Save the approval record
Save the approval status, approval notice, receipt number, and any USCIS account screenshots. If a later card or delivery problem appears, those records help separate the approved decision from the physical document issue.
Track card production and mailing
Many students see a card production update after approval. The timing varies. If your card status changes to produced or mailed, check whether USCIS provides tracking information and confirm the delivery address.
If you recently moved, review whether your address was updated correctly. Mail forwarding is not something to rely on blindly for a USCIS document.
Do not ignore employer onboarding
Employers often need the EAD card for I-9 or onboarding documentation. Ask your employer what they need and when they need it. Do not assume approval alone solves every employer-document issue.
If your job start is close and the card has not arrived, explain the timeline factually and keep screenshots or notices organized.
Start tracking unemployment days
